The MVP Model
Our Model
The project design is justified through relevant research and our own work with data visualizations, developing equitable learning spaces, and co-constructing community-engaged programming. The MVP model informs the design and development of resources and supports to engage both youth and community members.

MVP Learning Session
Each MVP cycle typically includes the equivalent of 12-15 learning sessions. An MVP Learning Session is a structured 1.5-hour session where students engage in a transdisciplinary exploration of data and art. Each session follows a consistent format, beginning with a warm-up activity introducing an artistic technique, followed by a small-group data exploration task, and concluding with a reflection discussion. Led by a team of educators, these sessions guide students through identifying community issues, collecting and analyzing data, and developing creative ways to visualize their findings artistically.

MVP Community Learning Event
MVP Community Learning Event (CLE) is a public showcase and gathering where students share their data-driven artworks and insights with their families, peers, and the broader community. These hour-long events, held in various locations across the city, provide an opportunity for students to present their works-in-progress, demonstrate data collection methods, and discuss their final artistic data visualizations. Designed to foster engagement and discussion, CLEs create a bridge between the students’ learning experiences and their real-world social contexts.
